Peter Jennings

Man, I miss Peter Jennings about as much as any straight man could. Watching ABC News tonight, it's hard to imagine that PJ would have gushed so orgasmically over the launch of the space shuttle today. Granted a chick was reporting (Libby Vargas) - I'm kidding....but she did say something like, "You could not help but look on in wonder and perhaps shed a tear." It could easily have been Jon Stewart saying it. Sadly, the absence of the only Canadian high school dropout to ever anchor the network news makes it almost unbearable to watch the evening news. Charles Gibson is the worst. I can't believe the guy who hosts Good Morning America and routinely opens the show with something like, "Brreeeakkkinggg News, Natalie Holloway's killers may have been watching the World Series of Poker the night before she went missing. We'll have much more on this developing story," can be giving us our daily 30-minute look at the world. For the most part I don't get my information from the network news (I've got some buds on the inside - I know some crazy shit), but we deserve a more grounded, occasionally sobering look at the world.
