Banter

I'm so bad at idle banter. I usually get in trouble when I try to say something witty or profound. Likewise, newspeople should just avoid idle banter whenever possible. I realize that they need to time the length of their stories and of the newscast down to the fraction of a second, but it's silly at best and downright stupid at worst.

Case in point, tonight on Channel 7, after a story about a competition for aspiring PA announcers at RFK Stadium for the Nationals games:

Anchorperson: Wow, that's great. And it's great to see a lot of diversity...men, women, Asians...


Guh!
