College Football Picks - Week One

Holy clams, I cannot believe it's time to pick college football games again. It seems like yesterday I was brooding over the Poulan Weedeater Independence Bowl and the Carquest Bowl. I think that I ended up around .500 last year, but I don't really remember. Things sort of fell apart for me at the end of the season, sort of like they fell apart for me at the end of the Scrabble game I played last evening. I was beating my girlfriend (before you call the police, please read on) by seventy points, and she came back and edged me on the last turn. To exorcise the demons from my Scrabble collapse, I must pick some come-from-behind wins in week one.

California 27 Tennessee 25 - whenever I had a close game last year, I think I chose this score; it just sounds nice

Bowling Green 18 Wisconsin 17 - vive le MAC!

Holy Cross 45 Georgetown 35 - I'm actually going to this game, so I feel obliged to pick it. If we're dealing with Ernesto on Saturday, then I'll say HC 22 Georgetown 14.

Notre Dame 38 Georgia Tech 9 - GA Tech will be up early, and the game will be close at the half.
