They never forget who they're working for, either
And that's where the similarities between Lockheed Martin and Touch & Go Records end. The label is celebrating its 25th anniversary this weekend in Chicago. Some of my favorite Touch & Go bands are Big Black/Shellac, Didjits, the Mekons, Man or Astroman, Killdozer (the only record that got me reprimanded when I was a DJ, and my Mom threw out my pig-with-bloody-knife Frank Kozik t-shirt), Rachels (I'm pretty sure they're on Touch and Go), Bad Livers - if you're going to extend the franchise to Quarterstick, Calexico, and Don Caballero.
Check out this short documentary, courtesy of youtube (it's nine minutes long).
And I missed the Shellac show last week. I could have gone, but I would've had to go alone, and going to shows in DC is bad enough when I'm with someone - one of those deals where I need to share my misery.
